LensLocal is operated by FILMEDBYRAMO ("we", "us"), based in the United Kingdom. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the control you have over it.
The short version. We collect only what we need to run your account, your bookings and your payments. We don't sell your data and we don't run advertising. Card and bank details are handled by Stripe — we never see or store them. You can permanently delete your account and everything in it from inside the app at any time.
Account. Your email address and a securely hashed password. We never see or store your password in readable form.
Waiting list (website only). If you join the waiting list at lenslocal.co.uk before we open, we store the name, email address, city and — if you choose to give it — social media handle that you enter. We use it for one thing: to email you when LensLocal opens, and to look at your work beforehand if you are a creator. It is not a newsletter, it is not sold or shared, and you can ask us to remove you at any time by emailing lenslocalstudio@gmail.com. The list cannot be read by anyone visiting the site.
Date of birth. Given once when you create your account, and used to confirm you are 18 or over. LensLocal is for over-18s only: creators are paid through Stripe, which requires it, and a booking is a contract. Your date of birth is stored separately from your public profile and is never shown to anyone else — not to creators, not to clients, not to visitors. It is not used for advertising or any other purpose, and it is deleted with your account.
Creator profile (creators only). Your display or studio name, city, specialties, starting price, biography, Instagram handle and profile picture.
Portfolio. The photos and videos you upload to show your work.
Bookings. The creator booked, the package and add-ons chosen, date, time, total amount, and payment and booking status.
Messages. The content of messages you send other users, plus timestamps and read status.
Reviews and favourites. Ratings and reviews you leave, and creators you save.
Payment records. We store the status of each payment (deposit paid, balance paid) and the identifiers Stripe gives us. We do not store your card number, bank details or Stripe login — Stripe holds those (see section 3).
Notifications. If you allow push notifications, we store a device token so we can alert you to new bookings and messages. You can turn this off in your device settings at any time.
Technical information. Standard server logs (such as IP address and timestamps) generated when the app connects to our services, used for security and diagnostics.
Our lawful bases under UK GDPR are performance of a contract (running your account, bookings and payments) and legitimate interests (keeping the service safe and working).
Service email. Some email is part of running your account and we send it whatever your settings say: confirming a booking, receipts for a deposit or balance, a password reset, a change to these terms. You cannot opt out of these without closing your account, because they are the service doing its job.
Optional updates. Separately, we may email you occasionally about new features and creators near you. This is off unless you turn it on — there is an optional, unticked box when you sign up, and a switch in Settings → Email you can change at any time. Every one of these emails also has an unsubscribe link. We record when you turned it on, so we can show you asked for it.
The lawful basis for optional updates is your consent, which you can withdraw at any moment without giving a reason and without affecting anything else about your account. If you have booked and paid through LensLocal we may also rely on the “soft opt-in” under PECR to tell you about similar services, and the same switch turns that off too.
We do not sell your email address, share it with other users, or pass it to anyone else for their own marketing. Creators and clients see each other's names in the app, never each other's email addresses.
Payments are processed by Stripe. When you pay a deposit or balance, your card details go directly to Stripe — they never pass through or get stored on our servers.
If you take bookings as a creator, Stripe collects the identity and bank details it needs to pay you and to meet financial regulations. That information is held by Stripe under Stripe's own privacy policy; we only receive your payout status and account identifier.
If you have a creator profile, this is public within the app: your name, city, specialties, starting price, biography, Instagram handle, profile picture, portfolio, and any ratings and reviews you receive. Don't put anything in those fields you wouldn't want shown publicly.
If you use LensLocal as a client, your profile is not browsable. A creator only sees your name and booking details when you book or message them.
We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. We use these providers to run the app:
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to.
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, portfolio, bookings, messages and reviews are removed from our systems, and backups are cycled out within 30 days. Some payment records may be retained by Stripe or by us where the law requires (for example for tax and anti-fraud purposes).
Under UK and EU data protection law you can access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your information, and receive a copy of it.
Delete your account. Go to Profile → Settings → Delete my account. This permanently removes your account and its content and cannot be undone.
For any other request, contact us below. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Data travels over encrypted connections and is stored with access controls that limit each account to its own data. Passwords are hashed and payments are handled by Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
LensLocal is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
If we make significant changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
